Keeping cool on a hot day

Report Date: July 24, 2012

If you haven't been scalloping yet this year, you must be one of the few that haven't. This has been such a good season for scallops that I think everyone in the state has been out at least once. On the weekends, there have been hundreds if not thousands of boats leaving out of Crystal River heading to the scallop grounds. However, the scallops still seem to be plentiful. No, they are not as thick as they were 2 weeks ago but scallopers that work at it are getting their limits in 2-3 hours. Is there a better way to keep cool when the air temp is 99 degrees?
The trout bite is still good. We have been staying with the Mirrolure Little Johns fished in 8-11 feet to get out trout. Along with the trout we are catching sea bass, bluefish and an occasional flounder.

Next month should mark the arrival of some schools of big redfish in our area of the gulf. many will be over the slot limit but are fun to catch and release anyway.
