Redfishing is Hot
Report Date: September 11, 2012
With the shortening of daylight and a little cooler water, big bull reds have moved into the Crystal River area. Some days live shrimp produce best then on the next day they won't touch anything but live or cut pinfish. Best to have both on hand.
The trout and spanish mackerel bite has also see an upturn recently. Trout have moved into the shallow flats in 3-6 feet and we are catching them on rattling cork rigs such as the Cajun Thunders. I prefer the Mirrolure Little John for a jig to fish under the cork.
Spanish macks are still out a little deeper in the 8-12 foot range where baitfish are plentiful.
Scalloping is still great in our area with many people getting their limit within a couple of hours. This has been one of the best scallop seasons I have seen since the late 70's.
Please call me if you would like to try your hand at fishing or scalloping.
